I would like the user title system to allow users to create their own title. But I would like an area in the admin where I can approve user title changes - just like users whom change their display name.

That's a good idea, have it so only certain "groups" have that option even better.

Good Idea. Perahps pare this up with the auto group change or perhaps each group could have different titles based upon posts?!

That's a neat idea. I've done a hack that lets you have several titles per level. That hack moves the title change into a function in ubbt.inc.php so it might be useful to work from that.
I'm not sure how to do it though, a separate usertitle file for each group perhaps? Or an extra "field" in each row, defining which group that level is for?
